Ohhh!  Hi ....

Sorry I overlooked your post somehow.

It really depends on what you want to do with one.  If money's not a factor, I'd go for the highest priced ones with great screens and much memory.  Before doing that though, I'd get a couple of good magazines that have reviews and features list, like PocketPC Magazine and decide what suits you.

I've gone through 6 PPC's over the years, mostly ipaq's, and as with most everything else you buy, you get what you pay for - meaning the expenisive ones are the better ones. I'm impressed with Dell's latest models.

A good first timers Pocket PC is the new HP ipaq rx1955, for about $250. It's processing power isn't that strong, but it's fine for normal users, and its battery life is very good as PPC's go.  It's very light and the screen is ok, although I like screens on higer models better. Stylus tapping is a bit clumsy and sometimes un-responsive I've found. Overall, it's a good unit for the price. It only has 32MB of memory though - but has a SDIO slot. It's built-in wireless adapter is good, and Pocket IE will let you surf.  Be aware though - this PPC comes with the new Windows Mobile 5, which is better that previous OS's is some ways. However, some PPC software you'll find won't run on this new OS (most do tho). Also, if you're still using Win98 (like me), you can't sync up your desktop/laptop with a Win-mobile 5 PPC because only the newest ActiveSync program will work with WinMobile 5 - which only runs on WinXP (thanks M$).

I'm sure that you'll enjoy a PPC. It's fun and handy. And you'll be amazed at how many open hot spots are around letting you browse the web on the go.
