I think the 'unofficial site' idea sounds good, as not only will people be able to gawk in awe at others' improvements, they'll also have the perfect opportunity to post messages of the kind that were discussed below (words chosen so Google searches on the topic below don't work).

Also, as (I think!) I originally said, my changes only add about 2KB of code, so if you like I can lift the CSS used for the forum here, do up the forum with my changes, and post it back to you :D

Finally, I also wanted to mention that modifying FlatForum was the way I learnt PHP and in turn was able to write the CMS for my own site :P and although it only checks in as just under 6KB at the mo I have a few ideas that will be adding a few more KB to it.

I'm also curious... what changes did Mateo add? Perhaps you could email them to me and I could integrate them :P

Last of all... have you actually ever considered FlatForum as a blogging platform - yourself?
