Hi everyone, I've rewritten parts of FlatForum!
I've added features like "Previous page" - you can now go to a previous page; a page counter - "Page 2 of 5"; "page persistance" - make a post, login/out etc, and you return to the page you were on; and other things. I also redesigned the outputting system as well so tables aren't used for display (!).
However, I tried to rewrite the autoformatter to accept BBCode-style tags and failed :S so if I send the forum to anyone, they will need to fix it (copying/pasting the "original" autoformatter would work), and I also styled the forum to match the rest of my website, so this would need to be un-implemented if the "new" forum were to be released to the public.
One last thing is that I wanted my site to register www.foo.com/?forum instead of www.foo.com/?page=forum, so I had to modify the forum code to allow for this.
I think the best thing to do with these changes is to take the "new" code to bits, extract the changes, and apply them to the "old" forum.
With that taken care of, I'd like to request some help :P
I'd like to rewrite FlatForum into a super-small blogging system, but have noo idea as to where to start :D
Perhaps someone could agree on a "change share": I share my changes to FlatForum (the above), and soemone else shares changes to FlatForum that would be something I could work off to make FlatForum a blogging system :-)
Anyone who is interested (I'm thinking Plasma will be :D ), just reply to this message with somewhere I can post the changes as a ZIP file (I'll just send the entire site that I've integrated the forum into, for convenience of testing) and I'll post it :D
Cheers

PS. FlatForum is a great learning tool - without it, I'd be as I was about 3-3.5 weeks ago - with no knowledge of PHP!
