SLEEP:

The SLEEP command simply pauses your program (puts it to sleep) until a keypress. It can take arguments too, like "SLEEP 5" will pause for 5 seconds. The only problem with that is that any keypress will abort the SLEEP numbers, so it's not too useful as a true "pause" method.  I only put it in there so you could look at the blinking text -- which didn't blink on your screen..?

On my PC's doing a COLOR 31, 12 will make a red background with a white text that flashes on and off (blinks). There is no special BLINK command, it's just the nature of the COLOR statement. As to why it does not work on your PC - I don't know why.  I'm guessing it has to do with your video card or OS.  On all my DOS/Win9x/W2k/XP machines it works (haven't gave in to buying Vista yet).
